CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IN VANCITY ON
WEDNESDAY JUNE 24th AFTER AN APPEARANCE IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON USA THE NIGHT BEFORE.
THE SHOW STARTS AT 7:30.
NOT MUCH PRE-PUBLICITY FOR THIS VANCOUVER, CANADA STOP ON THE 'BLACKsummers'night' 20 CITY TOUR, SO IT SHOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW MANY PEEPS TURN OUT FOR THIS NEO-SOUL PERFORMER.
ZIGZAGZ IS CONTEMPLATING GOING TO THE PERFORMANCE (PROMOTING MAXWELL'S NEW "BLACKsummers'night" ALBUM) BUT HASN'T MADE HIS MIND UP 100% YET.
WEIGHING HEAVILY IN "GOINGS" FAVOUR IS THE FACT THAT, ALONG WITH D'ANGELO, MAXWELL IS ZZ's FAVOURITE ARTIST IN THIS SUB-GENRE OF CONTEMPORARY NEW WORLD AFRICAN MUSIC.

The staging was so neat simple but very affective when the mood had to be changed.
He dealt with the dark lights on the stage and a lot of silhouette effects moving into a full view of players it was like a dark stage play.
Lighting was sometimes focus into the audience eyes, which gave the staging a somewhat New Yorky type of feeling.
Maxwell played the mic and the audience with smooth and sometimes sharp moves.
Maxwell's voice is at the top of the vocal game he's a true tenor with no cracks along his very wide vocal range.
Maxwell is really sexy and didn't mind telling the audience "...if you don't get any ass after this show then you might as well give up!"
I didn't realize that his lyric were that sexy, he had everyone dancing on several hit tunes.
There wasn't a full house, but I was surprised at the people who were in attendance. Lots of hip looking Vancouverites. Nice looking ladies and gents, you could tell that the hip people were there. Ladies, yes they were there for the slim standing good shaped Maxwell.
He sang laying down on the stage. He sang on his kness. It was great to see such a talented vocalist in Vancouver.
His show started late. I am not sure what the reason was... They had security (extra company) walking around and making sure no one was taking pictures with their cell phones. Hey, did I mention it was the cell phone, smart phone generation - never seen so many people txting and doing email while scializing.
My date had never heard of Maxwell and found the music slow, but when you think about it you should never take would to a forest.... Right?
