WAGRadio Book Recommendation

Lloyd Bradley's 'Bass Culture: When Reggae Was King' is a must-read for all fans of Jam-Rock music and also for those who want an insightful account of the early days of Ska and Reggae. These were the formative years in Jamaica when Selectors (People's Disc Jockeys) were playing Fats Domino, Willis "Gator Tail" Jackson, Wynonie Harris and many other New World African-American Music artists to their appreciative fans.

DJZigZag is looking for a Viking Press hardcover edition of 'Bass Culture' - so if any dear listener has a lead - email djzz at radio@wagradio.com or leave a comment on this post.

LOOK TO THE BOTTOM LEFT IN 'ZIGZAGZ CHARTS' TO SEE A BIT OF CKLG AM / FM HISTORY PLUS THE 1967 'BEST OF' GROOVIN' BLUE CHART...

THIS CIRCA 1967 PHOTO SHOWS CKLG's PROGRAM DIRECTOR FRANK CALLAGHAN AT THE AM CONTROL BOARD.
FRANK HIRED THE 24 YEAR OLD BILL REITER (DJZigZag) TO CREATE THE FIRST NEW WORLD AFRICAN MUSIC PROGRAM HEARD ON CANADIAN RADIO.  ALTHOUGH, AT THE TIME, MR. CALLAGHAN THOUGHT GROOVIN' BLUE  WAS SIMPLY A BLUES SHOW.
THE 1967 'BEST OF GROOVIN' BLUE' CHART DESCRIBES, BETTER THAN WORDS, WHAT THIS ALL-INCLUSIVE BLACK MUSIC RADIO PROGRAM WAS REALLY ABOUT.

WAGRadio SEZ - THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT WE DON'T WANT OUR CHILDREN TO SEE AND HEAR . . .

And that's why we declare on our shows and now reiterate in print that
WAGRadio and GROOVIN' BLUE is programming
FOR ADULTS
ONLY
AND NOT
FOR CHILDREN.

"Ramping Shop" by VYBZ KARTEL & SPICE and LIL WAYNE's "Young Playa", featured in GROOVIN' BLUE SHOW 09-03, are examples of creative pieces of music with filthy, nasty lyrics.
LYRICS THAT THE MANAGEMENT OF WAGRadio
WOULD ONLY WANT ADULTS TO HEAR.
