HOMETOWN SOULBROTHER #1 DONNY GERRARD TO APPEAR WITH MAVIS STAPLES AT VANCOUVER FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND - JULY 17-19

The man who many regard as the most soulful singer to come outta Canada will be visiting his home town on Sunday, July 19th.
As a three year veteran of the world-travelled MAVIS STAPLES  entourage,
DONNY GERRARD  motor-vates in from the Soul Gospel queen's Saturday appearance at the Winthrop Washington Blues Festival to a Sunday nite performance at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival but then immediately heads out of Van-City the next morning.  Such is the life of a world renowned entertainer such as M. Staples.  Unfortunately for Vancouver-born Donny (he lives in LA) this allows only a quick visit with family and many close and well-loved friends.

As far as the more-than-three-decade-old music festival itself . . .
It looks like these are the VFMF musical acts that WAGRadio fans would dig;
Friday 17th /9:45pm - ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
Saturday 18th /1:40pm - COREY HARRIS
Sunday 19th/9:15pm MAVIS STAPLES

"Oooo-wee, sittin' on the dock of the bay, Wastin' time . . ."

WAGRadio mascot Hudson Bear reflects & listens to the music drifting on shore from one of the Fraser River fishing boats off Sapperton Bar, British Columbia, Canada.  Its the sounds of the latest 'Groovin' Blue' [GB 09-06].
H. Bear sez he likes to "sit at the dock of the bay watching the tide roll away...".  We appreciate the soulful sentiment but don't have the heart to tell him that while the mighty Fraser is tidal - there is no 'bay' because its a river.
Radio insider Ted Wendland informs WAGRadio that the laid back bruin hasn't had a real job since the so-called Summer of Love (1967) when he performed some audio tape clean-up work for Jolly John Tanner and Bren Traff at Canada's first Underground Rock Radio station - CKLG-FM.
